This paper-making studio in Vinegar Hill, New York, combines workspace, living areas, and exhibition space for artists. The design optimizes the paper-making process with clearly separated wet and dry areas, ensuring efficiency and ease of movement for large sheets.
The studio features a Tyvek paper façade wrapped around a wooden structure. The interaction between the Tyvek and the framework is integral—its flexibility shapes the design, while the structure defines its form. By exploring panelization through molding and demolding natural elements with handmade paper, the project reinterprets Tyvek, typically used as an air barrier, as a modular façade material, highlighting its structural and aesthetic potential.
